Artisans

Guided by generations of tradition, Irodori’s master craftspeople bring quiet precision and profound respect for natural materials to every piece. Each blind and heirloom creation is shaped by shokunin spirit — the dedication to craft that transforms cedar and metal into objects of enduring beauty.

Through the hands of Japanese artisans, Irodori brings tradition into contemporary form. Each creation reflects a legacy of meticulous craft, natural harmony, and refined detail.

The Spirit of Sugi and Beyond

Japanese cedar (杉 – sugi) lies at the heart of our collection, celebrated for its warm hue, subtle grain, and aromatic character that deepens over time. Our artisans handcraft:

  • Shōji kyabinetto – 障子キャビネット
Shoji‑inspired credenzas with kumiko (組子) latticework blending tradition and modernity. Tansu – 箪笥
Low chests crafted with hidden aritsugi (蟻継ぎ) joinery and softened edges.

  • Zataku – 座卓 & Nagaisu – 長椅子
Solid cedar tables and benches, oil‑finished to reveal natural grain.

  • Konsōru to tana – コンソールと棚
Consoles and shelves shaped by ma (間) — the Japanese art of balanced space.
